The brief

When locals saved a 17th century rural Sussex pub from closure they needed to grow their customer base to guarantee the pub’s long term future. Passing traffic was limited to walkers or anyone already visiting the village at the end of a quiet lane in the South Downs.

What we did

The owners had already created a fantastic product when we came on board, but needed to talk to the right potential customers – cost effectively. We carefully chose upmarket local media, encouraged pub write-ups, advertised with distinctive messaging and sent regular e-mailers to customers the pub had carefully data captured.

What we achieved

The campaign not only increased footfall, but also repeat business and raised the profile of the pub, helping it to win two prestigious awards. The legend that is The George at Burpham continues.
